Disclaimer
OFAC List Check compares the name you enter with the names on the US Treasury OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) and Consolidated (non-SDN) lists as published on the date shown. A match means a listed name is similar; it is not a determination that a person or company is a sanctioned party. No match is not clearance: spelling variants, transliterations and other lists (EU, UK, UN) can be missed. The service is information only, not legal advice, and is not designed or offered for decisions about consumer credit, insurance, housing or employment. SL Studio is a private company not affiliated with the US Department of the Treasury.
If a result looks like your counterparty, contact OFAC through its online Compliance Hotline or use the official search tool before proceeding.
Data source
- US Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control, Sanctions List Service: SDN.XML and CONSOLIDATED.XML, public domain (17 U.S.C. §105), downloaded once a day. Each result shows the publication date and a version id of the list used.
- We do not call the official search tool on your behalf; OFAC asks automated users to work from the published files, which is what we do.
- Program descriptions on this site are summaries; the linked OFAC program page is the reference.
Matching method
Names are normalised (case, punctuation, diacritics, corporate suffixes), then compared with the primary name and every a.k.a. of each entry using string and word similarity. Exact: identical after normalisation. Possible: about 90% similar, or exact on a weak alias. Weak: 85–90%. Vessels and aircraft are included only when you ask. Country and year-of-birth hints only adjust the grade.
